Saad in Brief
Saad is a refugee presently housed at Villawood detention centre where he has been for about 10 months. He was born to Iraqi parents in Kuwait and moved to study in the Philippines when a young man. His parents were returned to Iraq when the gulf war broke out and he has not seen them since. Saad was detained by the Philippine govt being an Iraqi although he has never been to that country. He has a Philippine wife and 4 children and hopes to raise funds from this exhibition to assist his eldest daughter continue at school.

Saad's art reflects his varied life but is greatly influenced by traditional Philippine island native works. His subjects include family, Sydney and places he has only dreamed of visiting.

A speaker with extensive experience in helping refugees, Noeline Nagle, will give a short interesting talk about life in detention in Australia.
